The next edition of the Dev’s Kitchen event is going to take place on 18 - 19 January 2016 at the headquarters of Moto-Profil automotive company in Chorzów (Silesia, Poland).
Dev’s Kitchen is the 24-hour marathon of prototyping which draws inspiration from the popular formula of a hackathon. However, during that event the proportions of human resources are going to be reversed. In the traditional formula tens or hundreds of participants are working on a solution to be finally evaluated by the small jury.

During Dev's Kitchen event five hackers, backed by seven experienced developers, will work shoulder to shoulder in order to achieve the goal. And it’s all about developing a “recipe” for how to bring you project within one day to the stage of so called “Proof of Concept” - and present it to the world.
"Vision without execution is hallucination" (T. Edison), and "even the farthest journey begins with the first step" (B. Shakyamuni). One of the first such steps for every modern technology start-up is to develop a business model and attempt to create that “Proof of concept” (PoC), which is a proof of the project’s validity and enforceability. It is necessary before the process of presenting the project in front of future customers.

The hackers of the next edition of Dev's Kitchen (called "The winter is coming", which is not a coincidence) are students of the University of Science and Technology in Krakow. They will focus on the problem of car batteries that "suddenly" discharge (especially in winter). The students’ task will be to provide drivers with a solution that, based on the IoT device and cloud computing, will anticipate potential problems with morning starting of the vehicle, notify the driver, and offer a tailored service (provided by the only correct, orange-coloured workshop, of course).

During "The winter is coming" event the organizers will empirically prove that the team that is sufficiently determined and full of passion and commitment is able to deliver the prototype of a potential product within 24 hours. The course of events will be documented and the insights of mentors and crew will be used to create a knowledge base that will help young teams make further challenges.
